In NBA DFS, there will always be some flashy names that may tempt you to pay up — even in an unfavorable matchup. Name value sometimes comes with reliability, but the trick to cashing in on your NBA lineups is to maximize the boom while operating under the salary cap. Sometimes, this means fading the chalk plays and spending elsewhere.
Here, we’ll break down three top NBA DFS fades for the game slate on Tuesday, April 6th.
Khris Middleton, Milwaukee Bucks ($7,700)
Middleton busted as big-time chalk against the Sacramento Kings on Saturday while Giannis Antetokounmpo took a game off for rest. The Golden State Warriors have struggled as a whole defensively, but a combination of Andrew Wiggins and Kelly Oubre are better suited to contain Middleton than any group of wings the Kings played last week. Antetokounmpo is expected to be back in the starting lineup on Tuesday. While Middleton’s price has dropped by $300 since his last outing, players like Danilo Gallinari ($5,700) and Gary Trent Jr. ($6,200) offer more value.
Jerami Grant, Detroit Pistons ($6,900)
Grant has a chance at a revenge game against the Denver Nuggets, but I don’t things will turn out the way he wants them. Acquiring Aaron Gordon has helped the Nuggets improve by several notches on the defensive end, so it shouldn’t be easy for Grant to find the basket. The Nuggets are 12.5-point underdogs at DraftKings Sportsbook and I doubt that they’ll get off to a poor start again after falling behind early against the Orlando Magic last week.
Ja Morant, Memphis Grizzlies ($7,200)
The Miami Heat were dynamic on defense before adding Victor Oladipo and are working on getting better. Point guard has always been a weak point for Miami on defense, but relegating one to the bench to let Jimmy Butler run the offense has helped fix that problem. Four of the Heat’s five starters are above-average switchers on the perimeter, and that doesn't bode well for Morant, who has made just six field goals in his last two games.
