The NASCAR Cup Series returns after a rare weekend off, and we’re headed to Martinsville Speedway in Ridgeway, Virginia for the 2021 Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500. We get some night racing, with the green flag dropping at 7:30 p.m. ET this Saturday, April 10. FOX will broadcast the race and you’ll also be able to stream it via FOX.com/live and the FOX Sports GO app.
There will be no qualifying runs this weekend to prep for the race, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Following last year’s change, NASCAR is using a performance-metrics formula to avoid excessive exposure during the pandemic. The metric is split into 25 percent comes from a driver’s finishing position from the previous race, 25 percent comes from the car owner’s finishing position from the previous race, 35 percent comes from the team owner’s points ranking, and 15 percent comes from the fastest lap from the previous race.
Joey Logano claimed the pole for this weekend’s Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500 and will be joined on the front row by Denny Hamlin. They’ll be followed by William Byron and Ryan Blaney. Defending champ Martin Truex Jr. is the face favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook, installed at +500. he’s followed by Chase Elliott and Brad Keselowskiy at +600, and Hamlin and Logano at +700.
