In the final game on Wednesday, the Arizona Diamondbacks will play the Colorado Rockies in game two of three-game series at 8:40 p.m. ET. The Diamondbacks defeated the Rox 10-8 in 13 innings on Tuesday night, extending Colorado’s losing streak to three games. Colorado third baseman Ryan McMahon was the best player on the diamond with three home runs (4-6) and four RBI. McMahon’s production made up for a bad night at the plate for Trevor Story and Charlie Blackmon, who were a combined 0-for-10 with two walks and three strikeouts.
As for the Diamondbacks, Ketel Marte continued his hot start to the season, going 3-for-7 with two RBI. He also had two strikeouts, but is still batting .522. On Wednesday night, ace Madison Bumgarner will be looking to bounce back from his Opening Day performance for the Diamondbacks, while the Rockies will put Antonio Senzatela. We’ll go over some ideal picks on DraftKings Sportsbook centered around the game here.
Diamondbacks vs. Rockies, 8:40 p.m. ET
Moneyline pick: Diamondbacks -107
The line for Wednesday night’s game is currently set at -1.5 runs, with the Diamondbacks favored on the road. However, the moneyline is balancing at even money between both squads (-107 for AZ, -109 for COL). Just like we saw in the Opening Weekend series versus the Los Angeles Dodgers and on Tuesday night, Coors Field will likely give us another high scoring game to end the night. Over their last four games, the Rockies have been outscored by an average of 2.5 runs, which is not bad. But as we know in sports, sometimes its the slightest margins that could make the difference between a win or loss.
The Rockies do not get no breaks on Wednesday night as they prepare to face Madison Bumgarner. Bumgarner is looking to bounce back after getting rocked for six earned runs and seven hits in 4.1 innings pitched against the San Diego Padres. Last season, MadBum went five innings against the Rox, striking out four and only giving up two hits for a win.
Over his career, Bumgarner has a record of 17-8 against the Rockies and an ERA of 3.20. But at Coors Field, he’s only .500 (6-6) with a 4.56 ERA and has allowed 15 home runs (second-most in his career). Meanwhile, Senzatela will try to lower his ERA as well after a rough season debut against the Dodgers. Last season against the D-Backs, the 27-year-old pitcher struggled with an ERA of 7.84 in two starts. Arizona doesn’t have a prolific offense like the Dodgers, but they do have a couple of guys with some pop and can get on base.
Player Prop: Madison Bumgarner O5.5 strikeouts (+145)
For the last game on Wednesday night, I’m going to lean towards playing Bumgarner’s prop on strikeouts, even though Ketel Marte’s total hits prop is not bad either at +113. MadBum is looking to rebound after a rough Opening Day outing, where he got knocked around for six earned runs, but he still recorded six strikeouts in four innings of work.
Last season, Bumgarner went over 5.5 strikeouts only once, which happened against the Houston Astros. But over his career, the veteran pitcher has a record of 17-8 and 3.20 ERA plus 8.5 K/9 against the Rox. It’s a tad bit juiced +145, but it might be worth the squeeze.
