Report: Jerry Jones “infatuated” with TE Kyle Pitts

Draft season is in full effect and we are going to hear quite a few rumors surrounding what players are being sought after by specific teams. We can’t always tell if those rumors are valid or if someone is trying to drive the price up for a trade or for their client. But there is no doubt the Kyle Pitts hype is real. Pitts blew his pro day away as most expected and has all the traits to be a special tight end in this league. A unicorn like Pitts is right in Dallas Cowboys owner and GM Jerry Jones wheelhouse.

Last season we saw Jones grab CeeDee Lamb when many believed he would go in a different direction, but Jones, like many fans, wants that offensive splash player like Lamb and now Pitts, per ESPN’s Chris Mortenson.

“We’re hearing this thing about Jerry Jones, the owner of the Cowboys — and the GM — being infatuated with Kyle Pitts,” Mortensen said on ESPN. “He’s going to have to trade up to get Kyle Pitts. He spent $40 million a year on Dak Prescott, so why not go get Kyle Pitts?”

The Cowboys need help at offensive line, but they could upgrade at tight end with Blake Jarwin as their No. 1. And thinking of Ezekiel Elliott, Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb, Michael Gallup and Kyle Pitts all on the same team is fun.

Right now the Cowboys are set to pick at No. 10 overall, but that doesn’t seem high enough to grab Pitts. The first realistic spot for Pitts to go is to the Atlanta Falcons at No. 4, but we have also heard rumors that they could be looking to trade out of that spot. Jones will likely explore that option, as it is the only sure way to grab Pitts. But, he could have other options to move up if the Falcons were to take a quarterback or trade with a quarterback needy team. The scenarios are numerous and we can at least expect Jones to consider moving up for a player like Pitts.
