Pick against the spread, best player prop for Wizards vs. Hawks on Monday

We go over some of the best betting options for Monday’s matchup between the Washington Wizards and Atlanta Hawks.

NBA: Washington Wizards at Toronto Raptors Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Wizards and Atlanta Hawks figure to have a pretty good idea where they’ll land in the NBA’s postseason, but there is still some room for movement in the standings as they get set to play on Monday night in Atlanta. The Hawks are tied for the fifth best record in the Eastern Conference, two games ahead of the current No. 7 seed Boston Celtics. Meanwhile, Washington is 32-36, which is three games ahead of the Chicago Bulls, who have the 11th best record looking to avoid the play-in tournament.

Washington will be without the NBA’s second leading scorer Bradley Beal, who exited Saturday’s game with a hamstring injury. Atlanta’s De’Andre Hunter and Cam Reddish are both out of this game with Tony Snell questionable to play on Monday night.

Pick ATS: Hawks -7.5

Atlanta has a sizeable advantage in the amount of rest they will have prior to Monday night’s game. The Wizards last played on Saturday, and their last two games went to overtime and do not have their best player. Meanwhile, the Hawks have not played Thursday night. Both teams have done well against the spread in recent weeks, but we’re going with the home team in this spot despite a relatively high number.

Player Prop: Russell Westbrook O26.5 points (-141)

Without Beal in the lineup, Westbrook is the obvious choice to go over his number given by the oddsmakers. He is already shooting the ball 18.9 times per game, and that should increase by quite a bit now that he will be relied on to be the team’s scorer on Monday night. Westbrook scored at least 29 points in three of his last five games, and he should have a good shot at going over 27 at least on a team that averages the most possessions per game in the NBA.
