The Portland Trail Blazers (41-29) will look to extend their winning streak to six tonight as they visit the second-place Phoenix Suns (48-21) with just two games left to play in the regular season. The Blazers took down the league-leading Utah Jazz on Wednesday by a score of 105-98 as Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum stole the show and combined for 56 points between them, with Lillard leading the way at 30.
The Suns have now lost their last two straight, dropping results to the Lakers and the Warriors, and will face another tough Western Conference opponent in the Blazers before they finish off the season with a pair of back-to-back games against the Spurs.
Trail Blazers vs. Suns, 10:00 p.m. ET, TNT
Pick ATS: Trail Blazers +4.5
Simply put, the Blazers are absolutely on fire right now. They fell behind the Jazz at the beginning of the game, but took control, made a comeback, and made that victory look like a piece of cake. Lillard has now scored 30-plus points in each of his last six games straight, topping out at 38 against the Lakers last week. Devin Booker has shown a little bit of inconsistency lately for the Suns, scoring only 16 against the Knicks and 21 against the Lakers when he’s been averaging 25.6 PPG all season long. He dropped 34 points and seven rebounds in their loss to the Warriors on Tuesday, leading the team despite losing the game.
The Blazers have shown they can play very well down the stretch, especially in crucial games that matter heading into the playoffs. Both teams are relatively at full health, and while this could end up being a close contest, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the red-hot Blazers cover the spread in Phoenix.
Player Prop: Chris Paul O9.5 assists (-113)
Regardless of results, Chris Paul has been lethal in the assists column, hitting double digits in five of his last six games. He’s notched a double-double in each one of those games as well, against tough teams like the Warriors and the Lakers. Even if the Suns can’t pull off a win against Portland tonight, it’s not out of the question to say Paul will pull off at least 10 assists.
