The 2021 NBA Playoffs have arrived. The playoffs opens with a play-in tournament for the 7-10 seeds in each conference, followed by the first round of the top eight seeds. We’ll be breaking down DraftKings Sportsbook odds for each team to open the tournament and as teams advance through each round.
The Hawks are one of the more intimidating lower seeds entering the playoffs. The team axed Lloyd Pierce after a rough start to the year and replaced him with veteran coach Nate McMillan, who has Atlanta in a strong spot to make a playoff run. The Hawks survived major absences due to injury from key rotation players, including Bogdan Bogdanovic, Danilo Gallinari, De’Andre Hunter and Cam Reddish. Trae Young is going to get his first taste of the postseason. Would you want to face him? Neither would I.
Hawks odds to win NBA championship, May 17: +10000
The Hawks got some publicity from a bettor dropping a ton of money on them to win it all. At 100/1 to win it all and 40/1 to win the East, there’s a decent amount of value in these lines on DraftKings Sportsbook. Atlanta has Clint Capela to handle bigs down low, the issue would be perimeter defense. If De’Andre Hunter can provide some of that and Trae Young takes off, the Hawks can make it to the East Finals, where all bets would be off. Don’t sleep on Atlanta making a run.
