Kevin Pillar takes fastball to nose in Monday’s game vs. Braves [VIDEO]

In a scary scene, the Mets OFer took a fastball to the nose and started bleeding everywhere. He was able to go to the clubhouse under his own power.

Tuesday update: The Mets announced that Pillar suffered multiple nasal fractures and will be meeting with a facial specialist in Atlanta to determine next steps.

Pillar apparently walked into the dugout and was ready to go on Tuesday. Check out the update from Mets SP Marcus Stroman.

You never want to see anybody get hit by a 94 mph fastball, let alone in the face. New York Mets OF Kevin Pillar took a fastball from Atlanta Braves P Jacob Webb to the nose in Monday’s game and started gushing blood. It was a pretty scary hit by pitch, though Pillar was able to get up and walk to the clubhouse under his own power. Check out this video via Gary Parrish of CBS (NSFW):

Pillar was hit in the top of the 7th and the Mets are currently up 3-0 in the 8th inning. He was replaced by Khalil Lee in the outfield. Hopefully Pillar is OK and he can get back into the lineup soon. Chances are he’ll have to miss some time from the looks of it. Pillar finished the game 1-for-3 with an RBI.
