The Chicago White Sox and Minnesota Twins will wrap-up their three-game set at 1:10 p.m. ET on ESPN+. Lucas Giolito will be on the mound for Chicago, while Matt Shoemaker will get the start for Minnesota. We’ll go over some ideal picks on DraftKings Sportsbook centered around the game here.
White Sox vs. Twins, 1:10 p.m. ET, ESPN+
Moneyline pick: White Sox -125
After getting crushed 16-4 by the White Sox on Monday night, the Twins bounced back with a 5-4 victory on Tuesday night, thanks in large part to first baseman Miguel Sano. Sano, who has had his struggles at the plate this season, crushed three home runs for 4 RBI. The Twins will try to win their first series since April 30-May 2 on Wednesday. The Twins are only +108 underdogs on the money line, which is not shocking consider who is on the mound for the White Sox.
Giolito has a record of 2-4 and an ERA of 4.97 through eight starts this season. The 26-year-old starter has struggled recently on the mound, allowing 18 earned runs over his last 24 innings pitched. In his last outing against the Kansas City Royals, Giolito allowed 5 hits (2 HRs), 5 earned runs, 3 walks, and struck out 7 hitters in 6.0 IP. The right-handed pitcher has not pitched well on the road this season, with a 2-1 record and 7.02 ERA. In 13 starts against the Twins, Giolito has a record of 4-7 and an ERA of 5.15. He’s also allowed 16 home runs to Minnesota, which is the most against any team over his career.
As for Shoemaker, he’s been great either this season with a record of 2-4 and ERA of 6.62 through seven starts. In his last outing against the Oakland Athletics, Shoemaker gave up 5 hits (3 HR), 5 earned runs, 2 walks, and struck out 4 hitters in 6.0 IP. The 34-year-old pitcher has allowed struggled at home with a horrendous 8.69 ERA. But in six career starts against the White Sox, Shoemaker has a record of 3-2 and 4.34 ERA.
Player Prop: Lucas Giolito over 6.5 strikeouts (+105)
If you are not comfortable with playing the ML in this matinee game, then your next best option is Giolito’s strikeout prop. Even though he has struggled in his last five starts, due to giving up the long ball, he’s still recording strikeouts. The 26-year-old starter has gone over 6.5 strikeouts in six out of eight starts this season. But the Twins’ offense is only averaging 8.72 strikeouts per game this season and 6.67 Ks in their last three games. That being said, I think this is tremendous value and something worth sprinkling some coin on.
