NFL odds: Bengals QB Joe Burrow will be ready for Week 1, doctor says

Should Burrow’s immediate availability impact how bettors look at Cincinnati’s team futures?

Can the Bengals compete in the AFC North this year?

The Bengals franchise quarterback appears to be on track for a Week 1 return.

Joe Burrow is “on track for full go for start of the season”, Dr. Neal ElAttrache told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Burrow suffered a gruesome knee injury November 22 vs. Washington, tearing his ACL and MCL while damaging his PCl and meniscus. Burrow had to have reconstructive knee surgery and was estimated to be out for at least nine months.

We take a look at how his return might impact NFL futures at DraftKings Sportsbook.

Rookie of the Year impact

Burrow’s return boosts wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase’s stock in Offensive Rookie of the Year futures. Chase is not among the top contenders at +1100, but he’s the highest wide receiver listed. With his quarterback healthy, Chase should get plenty of chances to build a strong rookie campaign. In LSU’s championship season, Chase put up 1,780 yards and 20 touchdowns catching passes from Burrow.

Win total impact

Cincinnati’s win total currently sits at 6.5. The Bengals limped to four wins last season, but made significant additions to their defense and added a dynamic WR in the first round of the draft. While there’s always a risk of re-injury with Burrow, he should be able to take the Bengals to seven wins with a 17-game season. The over looks like a decent play at +118.

Divisional impact

The Bengals went 2-7-1 in Burrow’s starts last season and are long shots to win any titles next season. However, Cincinnati at +2000 to win the AFC North may grab the attention of some bettors. Teams often go from worst to first within the division in the NFL and while the North is loaded at the top with the Ravens and Browns, the Steelers showed significant decline. Factor in more difficult schedules for Baltimore and Cleveland and the Bengals could get some play.
