After seeing a 19-point first-quarter advantage disappear in the second quarter, the Memphis Grizzlies eventually held on to defeat the San Antonio Spurs 100-96 and advance in the play-in tournament. The Grizzlies were four-point favorites and the point total was installed at 222.5 points at DraftKings Sportsbook. The Grizzlies will play the loser of the Lakers-Warriors matchup on Friday.

Dillon Brooks led the way for Memphis with 24 points and Jonas Valanciunas added 23 points and 23 rebounds. If you took either in the player parlay market for this matchup, those bets paid off. Ja Morant added 19 points, six assists and six rebounds in the win. DeMar DeRozan recovered from a rough start to finish with 20 points for the Spurs while Rudy Gay added a vital 20 points off the bench.

Despite a rough defensive record of late, the Spurs were able to contain the Grizzlies after a disastrous first quarter. They went on a 20-3 run to open the second quarter and bring the game to within a basket. Neither team was able to pull away until the Grizzlies made a late push to secure the win. Unlike the team’s high-scoring regular season affairs, this game went under, which closed at 222.5. The Spurs covered with some late buckets and a missed free throw from Morant.

This will be the first time in 45 seasons the Spurs will officially miss the playoffs in consecutive seasons. The Grizzlies now await the loser of the play-in game between the Lakers and Warriors.
