Monday update: The NBA released a statement about LeBron James noting other players have done the same thing. It also seems to imply James was vaccinated and thus could do this.

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James will not be suspended for Game 1 of the first round vs. the Phoenix Suns, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. LeBron reportedly attending an event for a tequila brand earlier in the week and violated the NBA’s safety protocols. Dave McMenamin reports that the nature of the event didn’t rise to a point where Covid-19 could spread. So James is good to go for Game 1 vs. the Suns on Sunday.
The Suns host the Lakers to start their first-round series. As the No. 7 seed, the Lakers are still favored -180 to win the series with Phoenix at +140 as the 2-seed. This almost never happens but, hey, injuries got the defending champs during the regular season and here we are. James is 5/1 to win NBA Finals MVP on DraftKings Sportsbook, tied for the best odds with Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant.
