Sunday’s MLB games are underway but there are still plenty of fantasy targets worth taking a look at before the second string of matchups begins. A pair of games stand out as ideal DFS targets because of their above-average upside.
Sometimes with a plus-matchup on the MLB game slate, we get an opportunity to slot multiple players from the same team into our DFS lineups. You can learn more about MLB DFS strategy, including team stacks, here.
Here, we’ll break down three of the best team stacks for the MLB slate on May Sunday, 23rd.
Houston Astros vs. Texas Rangers, 2:35 p.m. ET
Carlos Correa ($6,100)
Jose Altuve ($6,000)
Alex Bregman ($5,900)
The Astros are closing in on the Boston Red Sox and ranks first in hits (233) and batting average (.272). The Red Sox have scored one more run. Houston will be up against the Rangers’ Mike Foltynewicz, who gave up eight hits and three runs in five runs in five innings the last time he faced the Astros. The 29-year-old right-hander is an abysmal 1-4 and will likely have to face the top of the Astros’ lineup quite a bit. Altuve and Bregman are batting over .300 and Correa is riding an eight-game hitting streak.
Oakland Athletics vs. Los Angeles Angels, 4:07 p.m. ET
Shohei Ohtani ($5,500)
David Fletcher ($4,600)
Jared Walsh ($4,600)
The Angels are down Mike Trout but are still a very capable team at the plate. The Athletics are starting Sean Manaea, who has given up 10 hits in each of his last two outings. The 29-year-old has given up three home runs and 10 total runs in his last eight innings on the mound. Only one man can top Ohtani’s 14 home runs. Walsh is batting .318. Fletcher only trails Ohtani and Walsh in hits.
