UPDATE: This interview was likely a surprise to many, but it wasn’t to the Atlanta Falcons, as Jones had requested a trade a few months ago, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The Falcons then said they would begin to listen to offers.

Atlanta wide receiver and future Hall of Famer Julio Jones, when speaking of on if he will be with the Falcons in 2021 says, “I’m out,” per FS1’s The Undisputed. On the show, host Shannon Sharpe called Jones out of the blue to ask him if he wanted to go to the Dallas Cowboys and if he wanted out of Atlanta. After saying that he was out of Atlanta, he added, “I want to win.” You can see the whole interview here:

Recent reports have the Falcons open to trading the longtime Falcon. Jones is still playing at a high level, but his age and nagging injuries have the team looking to get rid of his salary cap hit and bring in younger players for a mini-rebuild.

Did this feel like an official announcement that he is going to do everything he can to get out of Atlanta? At this point we don’t know, but there’s little doubt that he’s ready to move on to a team that’s poised for a Super Bowl run.
