The Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox will finish their two-game set at Fenway Park at 7:10 p.m. ET. Drew Smyly will be on the mound for Atlanta, while Nick Pivetta will get the start for Boston. We’ll go over some ideal picks on DraftKings Sportsbook centered around the game here.
Braves vs. Red Sox, 7:10 p.m. ET
Moneyline pick: Red Sox -141
The Atlanta Braves took Game 1 of this short two-game series on Tuesday night, winning 3-1 for their fourth consecutive win. But the Red Sox should be able to bounce back tonight and snap their two-game losing streak with Nick Pivetta on the mound. The former Phillies pitcher has rejuvenated and reignited his career with the Red Sox. Pivetta has a record of 5-0 and 3.59 ERA in nine starts. But unlike Braves’ starter Smyly, who has allowed 11 HRs this season, Pivetta has done a great job of keeping the ball in the park (3 HRs). He’ll need to do this against the likes of Ronald Acuna Jr. and Freddie Freeman.
Along with Pivetta, the Red Sox offense should be able to tee off on Smyly, who has been average this season at best. Smyly is 2-2 with an ERA of 5.11 and has allowed two HRs in four out of his last six starts. But over his career, Smyly has fared well against the BoSox with a 3-1 record and 2.35 ERA in 11 games. However, he’s allowed 7 HRs, which is third-most against any team over his carer. The Red Sox sluggers should be able pop a homer or two and came away with the series split.
Player Prop: Nick Pivetta over 5.5 strikeouts (-113)
If the Red Sox want to come away with the win, Pivetta will have to work through a Braves lineup that has Acuna, Freeman, Ozzie Albies, and Austin Riley. This season, he has gone over 5.5 strikeouts in five out his nine starts. In 15 games against the Braves, Pivetta is 5-2 with an ERA of 4.74 and has recorded 7.4 K/9.
