The New York Liberty, who are one of the best teams in the WNBA this season, were dealt a major blow on Wednesday. The team announced that forward Natasha Howard will be out 4-6 weeks with an MCL sprain. Howard suffered the injury in the fourth quarter against the Dallas Wings on Monday night. The veteran forward produced 17 points and 6 rebounds in 21 minutes.

This season, Howard is averaging 14.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in 22 minutes per game. The three-time WNBA champion signed with the Liberty in free agency after spending the last three seasons with the Seattle Storm.
Last season with Seattle, Howard took a step back in the scoring department, averaging only 9.5 points per game. However, she had one of her best seasons when it comes to the glass, recording 7.1 rebounds per game. The Liberty were hoping that Howard could be a factor on both ends of the court this season. But with Howard now out for at least the next month, the Liberty will likely turn to Kylee Shook, who has started in four games this season.
