Will the Philadelphia Eagles go over or under their win total in 2021?

Jalen Hurts and new head coach Nick Sirianni will be under the microscope this upcoming season.

After making the playoffs for three consecutive seasons, the Philadelphia Eagles had a rough last season that saw them finish 4-11-1 and last place in the NFC East. QB Carson Wentz did not play well, to put it lightly, and saw benched for the final quarter of the regular season for rookie QB Jalen Hurts. The Eagles would eventually trade Wentz in the offseason to the Indianapolis Colts and part ways with head coach Doug Pederson. The franchise now enters into a new era of football with first-year head coach Nick Sirianni and second-year QB Jalen Hurts.

We’ll take a look at the latest DraftKings Sportsbook lines and predict if the Eagles can beat their 2021 win total. The odds below are as of May 24, 2021.

NFC North win totals

Dallas Cowboys 9.5 (Over +107, Under -130)
Washington Football Team 8 (Over -141, Under +116)
New York Giants 7 (Over -130, Under +107)
Philadelphia Eagles 6.5 (Over -155, Under +127)

Notable offseason moves

The Eagles bought in S Anthony Harris, QB Joe Flacco, LB Eric Wilson, DE Ryan Kerrigan, RB Jordan Howard, RB Kerryon Johnson, and drafted WR DeVonta Smith in the first round.

They traded QB Carson Wentz, released DT Malik Jackson, WR DeSean Jackson, WR Alshon Jeffery, and lost S Jalen Mills in free agency.

Philadelphia Eagles prediction: Over 6.5 (-155)

There aren’t a lot of expectations for this Eagles team as they have a rookie head coach and a quarterback entering his first season as the starter. Despite how bad things got for Philly last season, they were only a couple of plays and mistakes away from being at or better than .500.

Surprisingly, the over is juiced at -155 odds, which I did not seem coming because there’s a consensus that this Eagles team could be in last place for the second consecutive year. But they do play in the NFC East, which has not been the best division lately and that won’t change this upcoming season. If Hurts can continue to improve and build off what he did last year, then this team could maybe sneak up to 8 or 9 wins this season. Now granted, they will see the Chiefs, Bucs, Niners, and Saints in the fall. But all four of those games will be at home, which is good news for the Eagles. I don’t see the Eagles repeating with another horrible season, especially if everybody is healthy. Take the over, despite it being juiced to the moon.
