Lakers playoff basketball is back in Los Angeles after eight seasons and the stakes are significant. The Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers are tied 1-1 heading into a pivotal Game 3. Los Angeles took back home-court advantage with a Game 2 win in Phoenix and now the Suns will be looking to spoil the show at Staples Center. Here’s how bettors should approach the lines for Game 3.
Suns vs. Lakers, 10 p.m. ET, TNT
Pick ATS: Lakers -6.5 (-110)
There’s not great value in taking either side of this bet with the Suns +6.5 coming in at -114, but the Lakers are going to be in front of their home fans in the playoffs for the first time since 2012-13. It’s safe to bet on LeBron James and Anthony Davis to have big games again and all these elements likely lead to a Lakers win. The value isn’t there, but the home team is the safer pick.
Player Prop: Anthony Davis double-double (+110)
In what turned out to be an abysmal Game 1 by Davis’ standards, he still put up 13 points and seven rebounds. It’s unlikely he goes for 34 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists in Game 3 like he did in Game 2, but there’s a strong chance he’s in contention for a double-double by the end of this contest. It’s the best value player prop on the board and can be paired with Anthony Davis getting more than 9.5 rebounds (+115) if bettors go this route.
