Will the Denver Broncos go over or under their win total in 2021?

The Broncos will need their quarterback play to take a big step up this season if they want to hit their current win total.

The Broncos didn’t live up to their expectations in 2020, as they went 5-11 and finished in last place in the AFC West. The hope was for Drew Lock to show more improvement than he did. That has led to much hand-wringing over who their starting quarterback will be for this season and into the future and that uncertainty will factor into their win total this season.

We’ll take a look at the latest DraftKings Sportsbook lines and predict if the Broncos can beat their 2021 win total. The odds below are as of May 24, 2021.

NFC North win totals

Kansas City Chiefs 12.5 (Over +123, Under -150)
Los Angeles Chargers 9 (Over -110, Under -110)
Denver Broncos 8.5 (Over -134, Under +110)
Las Vegas Raiders 7 (Over -115, Under +106)

Notable offseason moves

Denver traded for QB Teddy Bridgewater, signed S Justin Simmons, S Kareem Jackson, CB Kyler Fuller, DE Shelby Harris, CB Ronald Darby, and RB Mike Boone while drafting CB Pat Surtain and RB Javonte Williams in the first two rounds.

The Broncos let CB A.J. Bouye, DL Jurrell Casey, RB Phillip Lindsay, OT Elijah Wilkinson and S Will Parks go this offseason.

Denver Broncos prediction: 8.5 UNDER

The Broncos have a stacked roster, but unless the dream of trading for Aaron Rodgers comes true, they still have either Lock or Bridgewater at the helm. As long as teams can force the Broncos QB to beat them, they will have trouble moving the ball consistently. And, the AFC West has gotten tougher with the Chargers likely taking a step forward this season and the Chiefs being the Chiefs.

The Broncos do have one of the easier schedules overall, but it will take a big leap in performance from Lock or Bridgewater to facilitate nine wins this season. But, that number is also likely inflated due to the Rodgers rumors. It could easily fall if that trade doesn’t happen and if it does, I’m all over the over.
