Will the Indianapolis Colts go over or under their win total in 2021?

The Colts hope Carson Wentz can keep them as one of the top teams in the AFC in 2021.

Will Indy win the AFC South?

The Indianapolis colts rented Philip Rivers for the 2020 season and he helped them to an 11-5 record and an early exit in the playoffs. With Rivers retiring, the Colts found themselves in desperate need of a quarterback. Head coach Frank Reich went out and got Carson Wentz, who he had coached in Philadelphia and just had a disastrous season. The Colts are built to win, but will need Wentz to turn things around in 2021.

We’ll take a look at the latest DraftKings Sportsbook lines and predict if the Colts can beat their 2021 win total. The odds below are as of May 24, 2021.

AFC South win totals

Indianapolis Colts 10 (Over +115, Under -139)
Tennessee Titans 9 (Over -110, Under -110)
Jacksonville Jaguars 6.5 (Over +110, Under -134)
Houston Texans 4.5 (Over +118, Under -143)

Notable offseason moves

QB Philip Rivers and OT Anthony Castonzo retired. To replace those two they traded for QB Carson Wentz and signed OT Eric Fisher. They also brought back veterans T.Y. Hilton and Marlon Mack.

Indianapolis Colts prediction: UNDER 10

The Colts have a good core of players, but will need many things fall their way to hit 11 wins again this year. First and foremost Wentz will need to get back to form. That’s not an impossible sell, as Reich helped him to his best season in Philadelphia and the offensive line woes he faced in Philly last season were real. But there is no doubt that he was awful under pressure and turned the ball over like it was what he got paid to do. I expect him to land somewhere between his best and worst season this year.

The Colts will also need Fisher to get healthy and stay healthy and play at a Pro Bowl level at left tackle. That may be a lot to ask of a player coming off an Achilles tear last January. The defense will also need to once again play at a level their talent doesn’t quite match. Reich is a superb coach and if anyone can push this team into another strong season it’s him. But, I know how hard it is to get all the cards to fall your way in an NFL season as well.
