The first round of the 2021 NHL Playoffs is just about settled with one series left to sort out between the Maple Leafs and Canadiens. On Friday evening, one more series came to a close as the No. 2 seed Vegas Golden Knights held off the Minnesota Wild to advance to the second round. The Golden Knights will face the top-seeded Colorado Avalanche in Game 1 on Sunday, May 30 in Denver, Colorado.
The puck drops for Game 1 of the Avalanche-Golden Knights series at 8 p.m. ET and will air on NBC with a live stream available at NBCSports.com/live. The rest of the series has not yet been scheduled out because the league is awaiting the rest of the playoff bracket finalizing.
The Avalanche advanced to the second round after sweeping the St. Louis Blues in four games, winning all four by at least three goals. Nathan MacKinnon led the team in the first round with six goals and nine points. Goalie Philipp Grubauer started all four games and had a 1.75 GAA.
The Golden Knights advanced to the second round after beating the Wild in seven games. Mattias Janmark led the way with six points, with three coming on a hat trick in Game 7. Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury started all seven games and gave up a GAA under 2.
