Dallas Mavericks All-Star Luka Doncic is being listed as questionable to play in Game 4 vs. the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday due to a cervical strain. Doncic complained about pain in his neck and down his left arm after the Mavericks’ loss in Game 3. Dallas leads the first-round series 2-1 with Game 4 set for Sunday at 9:30 p.m. ET on TNT.
Doncic scored 44 points and missed a triple-double by one rebound and one assists in Friday’s loss to the Clippers in Game 3. Doncic is averaging 38 points, 8.7 rebounds and 9.0 assists while shooting over 51 percent from the field and 46 percent from 3-point range through three playoff games in 2021. If Doncic were to miss Game 4, it would allow the Clippers a very good shot at tying the series and regaining the advantage after going down 2-0.
The Clippers are being favored by 3.5 points following the Doncic news. Los Angeles would have a significant edge if Doncic is ruled out, so jumping on this line now doesn’t seem like a bad idea. If Doncic is held out and the Clippers do end up advancing, it would increase their odds of winning it all and coming out of the West. The Clippers would likely have to face the Utah Jazz in the second round before likely facing the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers in the West Finals. It’s not an easy path but it’s the path the Clippers were always going to have to go down to make it to the Finals.
