Which QB will start Week 1 for the Bears?

We look at the odds for who will be the Bears starting QB Week 1

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton (14) and Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy hug after the fourth quarter of the NFL Preseason Game One between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Chicago Bears at Paul Brown Stadium in downtown Cincinnati on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018. The Bengals won the pre-season opener, 30-27. Chicago Bears at Cincinnati Bengals Sam Greene

The Chicago Bears gave up a lot to move up and grab Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields, but compared to the alternative, it was a great move. That alternative was Andy Dalton as their starter for 2021. The question now isn’t if Justin Fields will start in 2021, it’s when?

Head coach Matt Nagy has said that Fields will have time to adjust to the playbook and NFL and learn behind a veteran like Dalton, but we all know that Fields will get the nod if Nagy believes he can give the team a similar chance to win as Dalton does.

DraftKings Sportsbook has the odds for which quarterback will take the first snap for the Bears in the 2021 season. Odds are available in Colorado, Illinois, and West Virginia.

Bears QB Week 1 Odds

Andy Dalton -200
Justin Fields +200
Nick Foles +800

Best Bet

Justin Fields +200

Fields is the Bears’ future and in the NFL, the future at quarterback is always now. The Bears spent too much draft capital on Fields to let him sit back and not get live reps from day one. Is there a chance Dalton gets the nod? Of course, but Dalton isn’t Fields. He’s a capable backup who can get you through a couple weeks of the starter being out with an injury. Fields on the other hand doesn’t have to be Patrick Mahomes in Week 1 to make the Bears a better team.

Fields isn’t going to be Lamar Jackson, rushing for 1,000 yards, but his ability on the ground will make up for a slower learning curve, if he has one. Chicago’s history with quarterbacks is as awful as you can find in the NFL and getting Fields onto the field and giving him a chance to learn and show why they invested so much in him is at the top of the priority list.
