If you’re craving some afternoon baseball on Memorial Day, have we got the game for you. In a battle between two basement-dwelling teams, the Minnesota Twins have traveled out to Maryland to take on the Baltimore Orioles.
Twins vs. Orioles, 1:00 p.m. ET, ESPN
Moneyline pick: Twins (-157)
This pick isn’t so much confidence in the Twins as it is staying away from Baltimore at all costs. The O’s are in the midst of a 13-game losing streak, including four losses to today’s opponent. On the other hand, Minnesota has won seven out of their last 10 games and seem to be turning it around after a rough start to the season.
Jorge Lopez is projected to get the start for Baltimore and in his last start he went six innings and allowed three earned runs in a loss to the Twins. In fact, to see the last time he’s found success against the Minnesota lineup you have to go back to 2018, when he allowed just one run over eight innings.
Player Prop: Jorge Lopez under 4.5 strikeouts (-159)
Lopez isn’t a guy with huge strikeout numbers, with just 45 in as many innings. The last time he played the Twins, he sat down just three batters via the strikeout. While that’s below his average, Minnesota is a team on the lower end of strikeout counts this season, sitting at 17th in MLB.
