The Indiana Pacers are ninth in the Eastern Conference with a 30-34 record. They won’t be able to climb to the sixth spot before the regular season comes to a close, so their only shot at making the playoffs for the sixth year in a row will have to come through the newly introduced play-in games. Injuries have played a large part in Indiana’s struggles this year, but don’t count the Pacers out just yet. Let’s take a look at their odds to secure the seventh or eighth seed.
Indiana Pacers odds to make playoffs
The Boston Celtics, Charlotte Hornets, and Washington Wizards are the other teams that are poised to take part in the play-in games. Indiana has a losing record against all three teams, and its poor health makes matters worse. Myles Turner (toe), the Pacers’ defensive anchor, is out indefinitely and Malcolm Brogdon has been in and out of the lineup while dealing with multiple ailments. Caris LeVert has stepped up his game when Brogdon can’t play, but the Pacers can’t match the star power of the other teams competing. The Celtics and Wizards have multiple All-Stars to depend on, so Indiana’s odds to advance are slim. Betting on the Pacers missing out seems like the best option.
