Moneyline pick, best player prop for Braves vs. Nationals on Thursday

We go over some of the best betting options for Thursday’s matchup between the Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals.

Best bets and DFS plays including JD Martinez and Jon Lester

The Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals will play the series finale of their three-game set Thursday at 4:05 p.m. ET. Drew Smyly will get the ball for Atlanta, while Jon Lester will start for Washington. We’ll go over some ideal picks on DraftKings Sportsbook centered around the game here.

Atlanta Braves vs. Washington Nationals, 4:05 p.m. ET

Moneyline pick: Nationals -108

Atlanta took Game 2 on Wednesday night, defeating Washington 5-3. Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna opened up the scoring with a grand slam in the fourth inning. Catcher William Contreras followed up with a solo home run in the fifth inning. That was all the offense Braves starting pitcher Max Fried needed as he only gave up 1 hit, 1 walk, and struck out 6 in 5.0 IP.

The Braves will try to get the sweep with Drew Smyly on the mound. Smyly has not been great this season as Atlanta signed him to a one-year, $11 million deal in the offseason. The veteran pitcher has a record of 0-2 with a horrendous 8.05 ERA. In his last start against the Toronto Blue Jays, the southpaw allowed 7 hits (3 HRs), 5 earned runs, 4 walks, and only struck out 3 in 4.0 IP. As for the Nationals, Jon Lester will be making his second start of the season. The 37-year-old pitcher threw five scoreless innings and only struck one in his season debut last week against the Marlins. In 11 games against the Braves, Lester has a 7-2 record and 2.30 ERA.

Player Prop: Kyle Schwarber to hit a home run (+375)

We are going to look at a home run prop for this afternoon’s game as neither pitcher’s strikeout prop is that appealing. Schwarber will be getting the start in left field for Washington. Schwarber is hitting .333 with a home run against Smyly. He has allowed his fair share of homers this season (9), with three coming against left-handed hitters. This season, Schwarber is hitting .313/.450/.563 with a home run in 20 plate appearances.
