Bryson DeChambeau flies home from Wells Fargo Championship thinking he missed cut, only....

Bryson DeChambeau struggled through two rounds at the 2021 Wells Fargo Championship, but he’ll get to keep playing this weekend.

The PGA Tour is headed into the weekend at the 2021 Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte and a rough first two days has anybody with a score of +2 or better making the cut. Turns out at least one golfer has to fly back for the third round!

Bryson DeChambeau finished the day with a +2 and early Friday evening, he posted a picture on social media stating “headed back to Dallas to get a quick workout in.. see ya tomorrow Charlotte.”

I think we can safely say he left Charlotte thinking he had missed the cut and was not going to be playing on Saturday. The cut was at even early Friday and moved to +1 by lunchtime. It settled at +1 throughout the afternoon and seemed likely to finish there by the evening. However, a few late birdies moved the line to +2 by 6:15 p.m. and suddenly DeChambeau was still alive for the third round.

The move to +2 meant several notable names ended up surviving into the weekend. That group includes DeChambeau, Russell Henley, K.J. Choi, and Zach Johnson. I’m curious how many other +2 golfers left town!
