How the public is betting Canelo Álvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders on fight day

Fight day is upon us. We break down the betting splits on Saturday morning for Canelo Alvarez and Billy Joe Saunders’s super-middleweight title bout.

Canelo Álvarez and Billy Joe Saunders square off on Saturday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas for the early front-runner for biggest fight of the year. Three of the four alphabet titles in the super middleweight division are on the line and we will move one step closer to a fully unified division.

The main card gets underway at 8 p.m. ET on DAZN and ring walks for the main event are expected to get going around 11 p.m.

Álvarez is a huge favorite and it is not at all surprising that the betting public is backing him in a big way. We’ve got a look at betting splits courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook for who will win and how they will win.

Moneyline betting splits

Canelo comes into the fight installed as a -715 favorite, while Saunders is a +425 underdog. The betting public has backed Canelo to the tune of 78% of handle and 82% of total bets.

Winning method betting splits

Given most think Canelo is going to win this fight, his winning method bets are dominating the action. 97% of total handle and 96% of total bets at DraftKings Sportsbook are on one of two bets. The favorite for winning method is Canelo by way of stoppage. Odds are -110 that the pound-for-pound champ will win by KO, TKO, or DQ and that bet is getting 87% of the handle and 89% of total bets. Canelo by way of decision is +150 and that is getting 10% of handle and 7% of total bets.

Saunders by stoppage is +2200 and there are some longshot bets there on the chance he gets in a lucky punch. 2.6% of handle and 3% of bets are on that one. Saunders by decision is +550 and is getting 0.5% of handle and 0.7% of bets.

People thinking we might get some shenanigans that result in a draw (+2000) have dropped in 0.4% of the handle and 0.5% of total bets.
