The New York Knicks can further solidify their chances of avoiding falling out of the top six and into the play-in tournament when they head on the road to face the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday afternoon. New York is 37-30 for the fourth best record in the Eastern Conference and two games ahead of the current No. 7 seed Boston Celtics. The Clippers clinched a playoff spot and enter with a 45-22 record for the third best mark in the West.
Knicks shooting guards Alec Burks and Immanuel Quickley left the previous game, and both are listed as questionable. Power forward John Henson remains out with a calf injury. For the Clippers, Serge Ibaka remains out with a back injury, and Amir Coffey is questionable as he sat out the last three games while going through the NBA’s health and safety protocols.

The Knicks are the best team ATS this season at 42-24-1. We know New York has more to play for than the Clippers looking at the standings. L.A. is in the 3-seed in the West and honestly might be better served dropping to the 4-seed to face the Mavericks instead of potentially playing the Lakers in the first round. The Knicks aren’t 100 percent clear of the play-in tournament, so I’d expect them to treat this game like a playoff game.

Leonard has been back in the lineup for three games and hasn’t done much offensively. He’s failed to reach 20 points in each game and now has to face the No. 1 defensive team in the NBA. Since this game should have a playoff feel, we should expect playoff Kawhi.
