The Los Angeles Chargers looked destined for another season languishing in mediocrity last year, but the quick ascension of rookie quarterback Justin Herbert gave the team life. They didn’t win as many games as they’d hoped, going 7-9, but they were extremely competitive. After the season Herbert had, it is hard not seeing them to at the very least compete for a winning record in 2021.
We’ll take a look at the latest DraftKings Sportsbook lines and predict if the Chargers can beat their 2021 win total. The odds below are as of June 1, 2021.
NFC North win totals
Kansas City Chiefs 12.5 (Over +123, Under -150)
Los Angeles Chargers 9 (Over -110, Under -110)
Denver Broncos 8.5 (Over -134, Under +110)
Las Vegas Raiders 7 (Over -115, Under -106)
Notable offseason moves
The Chargers added OGs Oday Aboushi and Matt Fieler, center Corey Linsley, tight end Jared Cook, re-signed CB Michael Davis, and drafted OT Rashawn Slater.
They lost tight end Hunter Henry, DE Melvin Ingram, LBs Denzel Perryman and Nick Vigil, CB Casey Heyward and QB Tyrod Taylor.
Los Angeles Chargers prediction: OVER 9
I think the line of nine wins is right on the money, so this isn’t an easy one to predict. They take on the AFC North and NFC East besides their own division the AFC West. Their schedule isn’t overly concerning, especially if the Broncos don’t somehow bring in Aaron Rodgers. Could Herbert regress in his second year? Of course, but I saw too many good things from him not to think he can at least give a similar effort behind a better offensive line.
