Moneyline pick, best player prop for Cubs vs. Mets on Tuesday

We go over some of the best betting options for Tuesday’s matchup between the Chicago Cubs and New York Mets.

Will Francisco Lindor come to play against Chicago?

The Chicago Cubs and New York Mets will continue their four-game set at 7 p.m. ET. Alec Mills will be on the mound for the Cubs, while the Mets will start Taijuan Walker. We’ll go over some ideal picks on DraftKings Sportsbook centered around the game here.

Cubs vs. Mets, 7:00 p.m. ET, ESPN

Moneyline pick: Mets -143

When these two teams played earlier this season at Wrigley Field, the Cubs dominated the Mets in a three-game series sweep. New York got revenge on Chicago Monday night with a 5-2 victory at Citi Field. The Mets have won four out of their last five games, while the Cubs saw their five-game losing streak snapped.

New York will have Taijuan Walker on the mound, who has been one of the best under the radar free agent signings this offseason. Walker is 5-2 with an ERA of 2.07 in 11 starts this season. The 28-year-old has done a tremendous job of keeping the ball inside the park, only allowing two home runs in 61.0 IP.

Walker faced the Cubs back on Apr. 20 at Wrigley, where he gave up 2 hits, 2 earned runs, but had 6 walks and still managed 7 strikeouts in 3.2 IP. It was his second shortest outing this season. But he should fare better tonight as he’s been dominant at home with a 3-0 record and 1.23 ERA.

Meanwhile, the Mets’ offense have a favorable matchup with Chicago going with Alec Mills. Mills is making his second start of the season as he’s been predominately used as a reliever out of the bullpen. The 29-year-old pitcher has a 8.76 ERA in six games and does not a lot on strikeouts. That being said, back the Mets, who have the better pitcher going for them tonight.

Player Prop: Pete Alonso to hit a home run (+350)

This could be a good spot for Alonso to hit his 11th home run of the season. The power-hitting first baseman is hitting .276/.354/.480 with 6 HRs and 24 RBI against right-handed pitchers this season. He’s facing a pitcher in Mills, who has 34 fly ball outs in 23.2 IP and does not depend on strikeouts. Home run props are always tricky to figure out, but this is not a bad ball if Alonso can get ahold of one.
