Potential No. 1 overall pick Cade Cunningham will not attend NBA Draft Combine

The Oklahoma State guard won’t be in attendance at the combine from June 21-27 in Chicago.

The NBA Draft Combine is set to take place from June 21-27 and one big name will not be in attendance: Oklahoma State G Cade Cunningham. The consensus No. 1 prospect heading into the 2021 NBA Draft, Cunningham won’t partake in the events in Chicago next week. This isn’t a complete shock. Cunningham has been viewed as the most likely player to go No. 1 overall in the draft in late July. He can really only hurt his draft stock by attending. It is a very deep draft, however, so we could see a few other top prospects jump into the No. 1 overall conversation when the dust settles on June 27. Here’s the full list of prospects attending, per Shams Charania.

Cunningham led the Cowboys to a 21-9 record in his freshman season, including a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Unfortunately, the 4-seed OK State fell in the second round of the tournament to the 12-seed Oregon State, ending Cunningham’s college career. He averaged 20.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists on 44/40/88 shooting splits in 27 games this past season.
