How the public is betting the Euro 2021 Thursday, June 17 slate

The Euro 2021 group stage continues on Thursday with three matches in Groups B & C. We break down how the public is betting each match.

There will be a trio of Euro 2020 matches on Thursday. All six of the teams playing will play their second group stage matches, and tables will begin to solidify. The public is already wagering on the outcomes of Thursday’s games at DraftKings Sportsbook, and all the betting splits are lopsided. Here’s who the public is backing.

Thursday betting splits

Ukraine vs. North Macedonia

Ukraine (-134): 89% handle, 90% bets
Tie (+250): 2% handle, 5% bets
North Macedonia (+450): 9% handle, 5% bets

Ukraine was highly motivated in their first group stage matchg and challenged a very good Netherlands team, so they should be heavily favored against a North Macedonia team that has the worst odds (+750000) to win the tournament. Ukraine’s big, physical forwards — Andriy Yarmolenko and Roman Yaremchuk — are perfect for punishing North Macedonia’s defense. Outmuscling the underdog worked just fine for Austria.

Denmark vs. Belgium

Denmark (+325): 1% handle, 3% bets
Tie (+205): 1% handle, 5% bets
Belgium (+108): 98% handle, 91% bets

Bettors are backing Belgium in an overwhelming fashion ahead of this match and they should. Denmark was bested by one of the least creative attacks in the tournament and Belgium has an abundance of playmakers that netted three goals last week to open up group stage play. If you want to go against the grain, bet on a tie, but getting Belgium at +105 on the moneyline might be the best bet available anywhere on Thursday. If you’re going to bet more than a unit on any outcome, wager on Belgium remaining undefeated by topping Denmark. The Danes are bound to face a rude awakening without Christian Eriksen.

Netherlands vs Austria

Netherlands (-180): 85% handle, 93% bets
Tie (+325): 7% handle, 4% bets
Austria (+500): 8% handle, 3% bets

This is the most evenly-matched contest on this slate, but the public might be leaning on the Netherlands a little too heavily here. Austria scored three goals with three different players against North Macedonia. Austria’s ceiling might be lowered because of Marko Arnautovic’s one-game suspension, but a tie is definitely within the realm of possibility if they play more conservatively without their powerful striker.
