The Cincinnati Reds and San Diego Padres will start a four-game series at 8:40 p.m. ET on Thursday. Wade Miley will be on the mound for the Reds, while Joe Musgrove will start for the Padres. We’ll go over some ideal picks on DraftKings Sportsbook centered around the game here.

Reds vs. Padres, 8:40 p.m. ET

Moneyline pick: Padres -175

The Padres need a win in the worst way after getting swept in three games by the Colorado Rockies earlier this week at Coors Field. San Diego was outscored by two runs per game by the Rockies, despite scoring 8 runs in the last two games of the series. But they did not get good pitching performances as they have an ERA of 6.33 in their last three games.

The Padres will try to get back on track with Joe Musgrove on the mound against a Reds team that has won sixth consecutive games. Musgrove has been San Diego’s second-best pitcher this season behind Yu Darvish. The 28-year-old is 4-6 with an ERA of 2.50 through 13 games this season. Despite his record being under .500, Musgrove has a record of 3-3 with a 2.83 ERA, and .202 opponents batting average in six home starts.

San Diego has a record of 2-2 in Musgrove’s last four home starts, which includes a 10-strikeout performance against the New York Mets on June 5. He could be what the doctor ordered to snap their losing streak and slowdown this Cincy offense. The Reds will run out Wade Miley, who is 6-4 with an ERA of 2.92 in 11 starts this season. Miley has pitched well as of late, with a 1.59 ERA in their last four outings. The veteran pitcher has yet to give up a HR on the road and has an ERA of 3.21 in five starts. But Miley has struggled over his career vs. the Padres with a 1-6 record and 5.38 ERA. Take the Padres to snap their streak and get back into the win column.

Player Prop: Wade Miley over 4.5 strikeouts (-118)

With the Padres in a tailspin, it’s a good time to play Wade Miley’s strikeout prop, which is at a modest number/odds. Miley is not much of a strikeout pitcher, unlike his counterpart in Musgrove. The 34-year-old has gone over 4.5 strikeouts in 6 out of 11 starts this season. He has also gone over his strikeout prop in three straight road starts.
