The Philadelphia 76ers return home in an attempt to send the Washington Wizards packing in Game 5. Philadelphia will be without Joel Embiid, who has a small lateral meniscus tear and is considered day-to-day. If the 76ers can get some additional rest ahead of the second round, that’ll be a huge benefit. The Wizards will look to stave off elimination once again.
Wizards vs. Sixers, 7:00 p.m. ET, NBA League Pass
Pick ATS: 76ers -6.5 (-110)
The Sixers will have time to adjust to life without Embiid and have plenty of capable big men to fill his role for a game or two if needed. Expect a lot more small ball from Doc Rivers’ team in this game. The Wizards will feel lucky to escape Game 4 with a win given Philadelphia’s woes from the free throw line. Expect the Sixers to wrap things up at home in style.
Player Prop: Ben Simmons over 33.5 points, rebounds and assists (-117)
Expect Simmons to take on a bigger offensive role with Embiid out. He’ll be more aggressive in this game and Philadelphia should surround him with enough capable shooters to rack up assists. Simmons is averaging 16.3 points, 6.7 assists and 8.7 rebounds in the las three games, adding up to 31.7. He should be able to to up that to at least 34 given Embiid’s absence.
