The Tampa Bay Rays and New York Yankees will play Game 3 of their four-game set at 7:05 p.m. ET. Shane McClanahan will be on the mound for Tampa Bay, while Jordan Montgomery will start for New York. We’ll go over some ideal picks on DraftKings Sportsbook centered around the game here.
Rays vs. Yankees, 7:05 p.m. ET, ESPN+
Moneyline pick: Rays +114
The Rays saw their five-game winning streak come to an end Tuesday night in extra innings, thanks to a two-run home run from Yankees outfielder Clint Frazier. Despite the defeat, the Rays have still won 16 out of their last 18 games, which is impressive and one of the main reasons why they are still in first place in the AL East.
That being said, Tampa Bay should be able to get back in the win column against Yankees starter Jordan Montgomery. He is 2-1 with a 4.22 ERA through 10 starts this season. But in three outings against the Rays, the 28-year-old starter has a 1-1 record and 4.76 ERA. In his only start against Tampa at Yankee Stadium on Apr. 17, Montgomery allowed 4 earned runs (2 HRs), 2 hits, 2 walks, but struck out 7 in 6.0 IP. Meanwhile, 24-year-old McClanahan should be able to keep New York’s offense at bay, with his 2.77 ERA on the road this season. At plus money, this is a great spot to take Rays, who are not underdog to this Yankees team.
Player Prop: Randy Arozarena to hit a home run (+450)
Since we do not have pitching props for the Rays, we are going to instead take a Tampa Bay player prop for tonight’s game. On the season, Yankees starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery has given up 7 HRs, with 5 coming against the Rays this season. Out of those 5 homers, rookie outfielder Randy Arozarena has one.
Now granted, Arozarena is only hitting .200 against Montgomery in 10 plate appearances, but he has 2 HRs and 4 RBI. Furthermore, he’s slashing .254/.329/.437 with 3 HRs and 8 RBI against left-handed pitching this season.
