The Phoenix Suns are back in the conference finals after a 10-year gap, which also happens to be the last time the franchise was in the playoffs. The Suns, despite their steady performance over the regular season, were not seen as championship contenders early on. If bettors took them at the time, they could be a few steps away from a big reward.
The Suns handled the defending champions Los Angeles Lakers in six games after star Anthony Davis suffered an injury during Game 4. He was unable to take the floor in Game 5 and played about five minutes in Game 6 before aggravating the injury. The Suns were never truly tested in the final game of the series.
Phoenix then took on the depleted Denver Nuggets and swept them to advance to the conference finals.
Phoenix Suns odds to win NBA championship: +250
This is a huge jump for the Suns, who entered the playoffs at +1800 to win the championship. Paul being in health protocols throws a slight wrench into their plans, but the Suns are relatively intact otherwise. They’re the only team that hasn’t suffered major injury issues and that’s been a great benefit for them. It’s unfortunate for the rest of the league, but Phoenix won’t apologize.
