The 2021 NBA Draft Lottery took place at 8:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, June 22nd to decide the front half of the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft. The Orlando Magic were awarded the No. 5 pick in the first round of the draft following the lottery draw. The Magic were tied for the best odds to win the No. 1 overall pick at 14 percent, along with the Houston Rockets and Detroit Pistons. Here we’re going to take a look at where the Magic are drafting and who they should look to take.
Who should the Orlando Magic take with the No. 5 pick?
The Magic had a 14 percent shot at winning the lottery, tied for the best odds among the three teams at the top (Rockets, Pistons). Instead, the Magic dropped down but not out of the top 5. Orlando has plenty of young bigs with Wendell Carter Jr., Chuma Okeke and Mo Bamba. So the logically way to go is either a wing or another guard. Cole Anthony is the Magic PG of the future. Adding a player like Jalen Suggs, Jalen Green or Davion Mitchell would go a long way toward a rebuild in Orlando.
