Moneyline pick, best player prop for Angels vs. Rays on Saturday

We go over some of the best betting options for Saturday’s matchup between the Los Angeles Angels and Tampa Bay Rays.

The Los Angeles Angels and Tampa Bay Rays will play Game 2 of their three-game series at 4:10 p.m. ET. Alex Cobb will be on the mound for the Angels, while the Rays will start Shane McClanahan. We’ll go over some ideal picks on DraftKings Sportsbook centered around the game here.

Angels vs. Rays, 4:10 p.m. ET

Moneyline pick: Angels +143

The Angels will look to snap their four-game losing streak after losing the series opener 4-3 on Friday night. Additionally, Los Angeles has been outscored by 4.66 runs per game during their current streak. Alex Cobb might be the right pitcher to help turn things around for the Angels as he’s 5-2 with 4.41 ERA in 10 starts this season.

However, he has not been great on the road with a 2-1 record, 6.64 ERA, and .310 OBA in five starts. The Angels are 2-1 in Cobb’s last three outings, but in two of those he only pitched 3.0 and 2.0 innings. That being said, the best bet might be the Rays, who have won three consecutive games.

Tampa Bay’s offense has kind of awoken from its slumber, averaging 4.33 runs in their last three game. Rookie Shane McClanahan has a tall task in front of him as he’s 2-0 with a 4.67 ERA in four home starts. He’s also allowing opponents to hit .279 at the plate, which is not great, especially against an Angels lineup that can hit. McClanahan faced the Angels back in May, where he only allowed 4 hits, 3 earned runs, 2 walks, and had 5 strikeouts in 4.0 IP. This game could honestly go either way as neither pitcher is dominant. Therefore, go with the underdog Angels.

Player Prop: Shohei Ohtani to hit a home run (+400)

We are going to stay from the strikeout props and instead attack Shohei Ohtani’s home run prop, which is currently at +400 odds. Ohtani hit his 24th home run on Friday night and has hit five home runs in his last six games. The two-way star player will be facing a left-handed pitcher in McClanahan today. This season, Ohtani is hitting .253/.318/.646 with 8 HRs and 15 RBI against lefties. The stats might not favor betting on Ohtani, but he’s hot at the plate.
