The Philadelphia Phillies hit the road to open up a new series Monday night against the Cincinnati Reds as both teams try to get back in the win column after tough weeks. If you’re looking to make a bit of cash on this game, we’ll tell you what we think the best bet is on the moneyline as well as a player prop that looks good at DraftKings Sportsbook.
Phillies vs. Reds, 6:40 p.m. ET
Moneyline pick: Reds -167
Both teams come into this one after struggling to get through the last 10 games. Philadelphia has won just four of its last 10, while the Reds have won only three in that span.
Cincinnati has an advantage though, with Wade Miley on the bump for them. Over his last 21 innings, he’s allowed 15 hits with only six runs coming across the plate. He’s faced off with Philadelphia earlier this year, too. In that game he gave up just one earned run in six innings while striking out six.
Philadelphia’s hurler, Spencer Howard, is still trying to get the hang of playing at the big league level. His ERA has ballooned up above 5 and he’s yet to get into the fifth inning this season. He’s also got the setting going against him — Philadelphia is putrid on the road this season with a record of 15-25 outside the City of Brotherly Love.
Player Prop: Wade Miley over 4.5 strikeouts (-120)
Miley has averaged a total of 5.6 strikeouts over his last five outings. He’s also only failed to get more than 4.5 once in that span. The Phillies as a team strike out more than most clubs in baseball, with 9.5 Ks per night on average, good for 24th most in MLB. This one seems like easy money to us.
