UPDATE: We’re headed to extra time in a wild one! Spain scored two goals in the second half to take a 3-1 lead, only to give up Croatian goals in the 85th and 92nd minutes.
UPDATE: Spain equalized in the 38th minute when Pablo Sarabia scored on a left-footed shot to the high center of the goal.
Spain entered Monday’s Euro 2020 Round of 16 match against Croatia a sizable favorite, but they have shot themselves in the foot in the early going. A Spanish player kicked the ball from midfield back to goalkeeper Unai Simón, and somehow the Spanish keeper was not ready. I don’t know if the ball took a bad bounce or what, but it skipped past him and into the net for an own goal to give Croatia a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute.
