Round two of the NBA playoffs have arrived and as the field whittles down, we draw one step closer to anointing a new champion. Like for round one, we’ll be breaking down DraftKings Sportsbook championship odds for each team as the postseason continues.
The Philadelphia 76ers earned the top seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs and proved worthy of that distinction by dispatching the Washington Wizards in five games in round one. Averaging a playoff-high 124 points a game, the team was bolstered by the scoring of Tobias Harris and the versatility of Ben Simmons, who nearly averaged a triple-double for the entire series.
Joel Embiid did look every bit of an MVP candidate early in the series but a small lateral meniscus tear in his right knee forced him out of Game 4 and sidelined him completely for Game 5. Now listed as day-to-day, the 76ers are hoping to get him back sooner rather than later against a fiery, upstart Atlanta Hawks club.
Philadelphia 76ers odds to win NBA championship: +900
There’s some value to be had with the 76ers at +900 as they’re currently sitting with fourth-highest odds of remaining teams to win the NBA Championship. Two teams ahead of them, the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks, potentially await them in the Eastern Conference finals and that’s a spot where Philly can’t afford to not have a healthy Embiid.
Still, betting on the Sixers to go all the way would be a decent play but do so with caution.
