Floyd Mayweather beats Logan Paul with ease, but it was better than expected

Logan Paul went the distance with Floyd Mayweather. That counts as a highlight for him in what was not an entirely awful fight.

Although there is no official winner in the Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul exhibition bout, it’s pretty clear that Mayweather would have won the contest if it was being scored.

While the two fighters looked ridiculous next to each other in the ring, with Paul likely between 35 and 40 pounds heavier when the bell rang, it was clear Mayweather was able to get in and out quickly.

We scored it 79-73 for Mayweather.

Round 1

It’s not a surprise Mayweather chose to stay on the outside. He’ll be on his bicycle for most of this fight, looking to avoid getting hit and sliding in and out. The best punch of the bout came with a left hand from Floyd that caught Paul flush, but there was no follow up. The end of the round was a huge flurry from Paul, but none of it got through. 10-9 Mayweather.

Round 2

Not the most exciting round, and more of the same. If Paul can get close to Floyd, he might have a shot here. He for sure won this round. 10-9 Paul.

Round 3

A big left hook from Floyd scored, and it looks like Mayweather is back in control. He’s starting to cut off the ring and back Paul into the corner, while swinging, scoring, and then getting away. 10-9 Mayweather.

Round 4

“He’s laying on him like an anxiety blanket,” says The Kid Mero of Paul, but it doesn’t matter. Floyd is using his hand speed to score pretty easily. Paul is just tying up and leaning on him as much as possible. 10-9 Mayweather.

Round 5

Another 10-9 for Mayweather, who is starting to wear Paul down with flurries and movement. Paul can’t seem to touch him. 10-9 Mayweather.

Between rounds Logan’s brother Jake says he’s winning the fight to the camera. Breaking: He’s not. Mero: “No, you’re wrong.”

Round 6

Floyd is talking trash while stick-and-moving as well. The eye of Paul is starting to close, and he’s able to counter and move pretty easily. 10-9 Mayweather, and he’s barely getting hit.

Round 7

More Floyd, less Paul. Easy win for Floyd. 10-9 Mayweather

Round 8

Another dominating round for Floyd Mayweather, with some showboating from Paul at the end despite the fact he clearly lost the bout. He seems pretty excited to have survived. But it’s another round for Mayweather at 10-9.

We score it a final of Mayweather 79-73.

Mayweather landed 43 of 107 punches, and 28 of 217 for Paul.
