The No. 2 seed Suns and No. 3 seed Nuggets meet in the second round after winning their respective series against the Los Angeles Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers in six games. NBA MVP favorite Nikola Jokic will look to take Denver back to the conference finals while Devin Booker continues to elevate his status as a rising star in the league.
Phoenix Suns vs. Denver Nuggets series odds
Nuggets: +175
Suns: -220
The Suns are favored to win the series after taking down the Lakers, but Los Angeles was without Anthony Davis for essentially three games. LeBron James was dealing with the after effects of an ankle injury which kept him out for a large chunk of the regular season. The Nuggets don’t have Jamal Murray, but Michael Porter Jr. and Aaron Gordon are no slouches as secondary options. Denver offers good value for bettors in this series.
Who will win the series?
The Suns are legit and proved themselves against the Lakers, but they didn’t meet the defending champs at full strength. The Nuggets are without Murray, but have a strong bench and supporting cast. Deandre Ayton likely won’t shoot like he did against the Lakers and the Suns struggled to contain Davis, meaning they’ll likely have a tough time with Jokic. It’ll be a tight series, but the Nuggets should make it back to the Western conference finals.
