In one of just three games on the slate for Monday, the Kansas City Royals head out west to take on the LA Angles.
This game provides an interesting pitching matchup with a struggling vet taking on somebody making his MLB debut. We’ll give you what we think is the best bet on the moneyline as well as a player prop we think has a good shot of happening.
Royals vs. Angels, 9:38 p.m. ET
Moneyline pick: Royals +133
This is a weird matchup because Kansas City’s pitcher, Jackson Kowar is an unknown. He’s making his MLB debut, but at AAA this season he’s been dominant with a 0.85 ERA in 31.2 innings over the course of six starts. His opponent, Dylan Bundy, has been struggling this season. His ERA has ballooned up to over 6 and he’s only gone more than 5 innings twice in his last five starts. He’s allowed 30 runs in just over 32 innings pitched this season, which isn’t ideal.
In Bundy’s last three starts he’s given up 15 runs in just 12 innings. The Royals don’t have an overwhelmingly powerful offense, but against a pitcher struggling to get through innings they should be able to make a big impact early.
Player Prop: Andrew Benintendi over 0.5 hits (-210)
Bundy has been giving up a ton of hits and runs, so it’s no shock to expect a bunch of guys down the Royals lineup to come away with at least one hit. In three games against the Angles this season, Benintendi has three total hits. He’s also currently rolling on a seven-game hit streak, so he’s seeing the ball well coming into this one.
