The Bucks appeared to benefit from James Harden’s untimely hamstring tweak in Game 1 on Saturday, but couldn't take advantage of the Nets star’s early exit and lost 115-107 at Barclay’s center. Giannis Antetokounmpo had no problem producing at a high level in the first matchup of the second-round series and scored 34 points on 66% shooting, but his attempts at the rim were limited thanks to impressive team defense and effort from Brooklyn. Milwaukee will need quality contributions from Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton to even the series. Both struggled from the field on Saturday.
The Nets thrived on offense without their top playmaker and Blake Griffin filled in for Harden as a member of Brooklyn’s big three by notching 18 points and 14 rebounds. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving produced their normal offensive output, while Mike James stepped up to lead all bench players with 12 points. Harden and Jeff Green have been ruled out for Game 2, so role-players will be vital to Brooklyn’s effort to maintain a lead.
