Clippers vs. Jazz DraftKings Free $5K pool picks for Game 1

We go over each category and give predictions for DraftKings pool for Game 1 of the Clippers-Jazz series in second round of the 2021 NBA playoffs.

NBA: Los Angeles Clippers at Dallas Mavericks Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The Utah Jazz will host the Los Angeles Clippers in the first game of their second round series on Tuesday, June 8th. Utah took down the Memphis Grizzlies in five games, while the Clippers needed seven games to get past the Dallas Mavericks. Utah’s Mike Conley is questionable for Game 1 with a hamstring injury, while Serge Ibaka will be out for the opening game.

Below is a look at a number of predictions ahead of Tuesday night’s game for the Free $5K DraftKings Pools - Playoff Edition (LAC-UTA).

Clippers vs. Jazz, Game 1 playoff pool picks

Which team will cover the spread? Clippers +4.5 or Jazz -4.5

Let’s go with the underdog Clippers on the road in Game 1. Los Angeles is coming off two must-win games over the weekend, and Utah has gone nearly a week without playing a game. The Clippers could hit the ground running to start this series and cover the +4.5 spread.

How many total points will be scored? Over or under 220.5

The Clippers have the fifth best shooting percentage in the NBA, but the Jazz can match them with the second best defense in opponent shooting percentage. Los Angeles averages the fewest number of possessions per game in the NBA, so we’re taking the under here.

Which team will reach 30 points first? Clippers or Jazz

Using the same logic to the point spread piece of this pool, the Clippers should come ready to go since they have been playing more regularly. Let’s take Los Angeles to get off to a hot start.

Which team will have more 3-pointers made? Clippers or Jazz

Utah should knock down the most 3-pointers in Game 1 of this series. The Jazz average the most attempts from long range, and they rank third in three-point shooting percentage as a team.

Who will have more points and rebounds? Paul George or Rudy Gobert

Through seven games in the postseason, Paul George is averaging 23.6 points and nine rebounds per game, while Rudy Gobert went for 17.4 points and 13 boards in five playoff games. George is going to be significantly more relied on to score, so we’ll go with him.

How many points, rebounds and assists for Kawhi Leonard? Over or under 41.5

Kawhi Leonard averages 32.1 points, 7.9 rebounds and 4.6 assists in seven games this playoffs for a total of 44.6 combined. Still, we’re going with the under. He is averaging more than seven points in the playoffs than he did in the regular season, so we can see a slight regression.

How many points, rebounds and assists for Donovan Mitchell? Over or under 38.5

Donovan Mitchell has scored 28.5 points per game in four games in this postseason to go along with 5.8 assists, though he is not much of a rebounder with three boards per game. These numbers are fairly consistent with his regular season averages, but we’re going under. The Clippers average the fewest possessions per game, which should have an impact on his numbers.

Which team will win the fourth quarter? Clippers or Jazz

We can expect a slow start from Utah after a bit of time off, but they can easily knock off that rust by the fourth quarter. Let’s go with the Jazz to win the final quarter of Game 1.
