Odds to win men’s volleyball gold medal at Tokyo 2021 Olympics

The USA men’s volleyball team has won a medal at two of the last three games, including a gold in 2008. Can they get back on the podium in Tokyo?

The US Volleyball Men’s National Team is struggling as of now, but will have plenty of time to pull it together to make the medal rounds of the delayed 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

Right now the US is in ninth place after six matches in the ongoing 2021 Volleyball Nations League taking place in Italy, which is a 15-team round robin. This is an event where the USA finished with bronze in 2018 and silver in 2019, so they’re behind pace so far with shutout losses to Brazil and Poland, and a 3-1 loss to the world’s best player Maxim Mikhaylov and Russia.

The USA picked up an Olympic gold medal in Beijing in 2008, and a bronze in Rio de Janeiro five years ago. They’ve stayed on about the same pace on the world stage as of late, winning the silver in the 2019 VNL, and the bronze at the World Championships in 2018.

Outside hitter and Long Beach State grad TJ DeFalco leads all scorers with 60 points so far this tournament, and he’ll be the go-to player on a pin in Tokyo. And it looks like Micah Christenson will return as the starting setter for his second-straight Olympics.

Here are the complete odds from DraftKings Sportsbook for who will win the indoor men’s volleyball gold medal at the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo.
