The AL Central leading Chicago White Sox continued the tear they’ve been on with a 6-1 series-opening victory over the Toronto Blue Jays and will look to punch another ‘W’ at Guaranteed Rate Field tonight. Ace Lance Lynn (7-1) takes the hill for the Southsiders while rookie Alek Manoah (1-0) gets the start for the birds. Moneyline pick: Chicago White Sox (-162)
The White Sox have been money at home this season with a 24-10 record and they’ll have the extra advantage of deploying midseason AL Cy Young candidate Lance Lynn on the mound.
It has been difficult for opposing hitters to crack Lynn as he has yielded just three earned runs in his last six outings combined. Only pitching 34 innings in that span, he’s been more than efficient for Chicago, striking out 34 batters while only yielding 17 base hits. Combine this with the usual run support supplied by White Sox batters during his starts and you have the recipe for a midweek victory.
Player Prop: Alek Manoah over 5.5 strikeouts (+130)
Making just his third career start tonight, the Toronto rookie has shown glimpses of promise since arriving to the Show. He struck out seven Yankee batters in his debut on May 27 before punching out five in his previous outing against the Marlins. Blue Jay pitchers were able to rack up 15 strikeouts against ChiSox batters last night so if that keeps up, Manoah could very well go over 5.5.
