The Houston Astros and Boston Red Sox will play Game 2 out their three-game set at 7:10 p.m. ET. Jake Odorizzi will be on the mound for the Astros, while Nathan Eovaldi will start for the Red Sox. We’ll go over some ideal picks on DraftKings Sportsbook centered around the game here.
Astros vs. Red Sox, 7:10 p.m. ET
Moneyline pick: Red Sox -137
The Boston Red Sox have had a ton of trouble with the Houston Astros this season. Houston has won four out of five games against Boston by a comfortable margin of 5 runs per game. The Astros’ offense is averaging 5.2 runs per game, while the Red Sox, who have a few good hitters in their lineup too is only producing 2 runs per game.
Houston defeated Boston 7-1 on Tuesday night, but the Red Sox should be able to get back into the win column with Nathan Eovaldi on the mound. The veteran pitcher is 7-2 with an ERA of 3.78 through 12 starts this season. However, his ERA is higher at home (4.47), despite a 4-2 record. But that should not be a cause for concern in tonight’s game as Eovaldi has a 3.78 ERA in five career starts against Houston.
Speaking of the Astros, they should be concerned with Odorizzi on the mound, who is only making his third start since returning from injury in May. His last start coincidentally came against the Red Sox, where he allowed 3 runs including a HR in 3.0 IP. The Red Sox went on to defeat the Astros 5-1 at Minute Maid Park. Boston is sitting at a nice value on the ML and should be due for a bounce back win at Fenway Park.
Player Prop: Nathan Eovaldi over 4.5 strikeouts (+105)
Since we do not have a pitching prop for Odorizzi, we might as well attack Eovaldi’s, which is sitting at a favorable number. The veteran pitcher has 65 strikeouts in 66.2 IP and a K/9 of 8.8 this season. He has gone over 4.5 strikeouts in 7 out of 12 starts this season, including 3 out of his last 4 outings. Eovaldi will play a key role in whether the Red Sox can break their losing woes against the Astros. Houston’s offense does not strikeout a lot at 7.07 Ks per game this season. But they are averaging 9 strikeouts in their last three games and 7.44 strikeouts away from MinuteMaid Park.
